MEN THAT TURN THE WORLD AROUND (PART TWO)

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light and Kings to the brightness of your dawn” Isaiah 60:1-3
Over years, men have impacted this world of ours in various ways. History will be slow to forget the lights of Martin Luther, Martin Luther King Jr, Micheal Jackson, Micheal Johnson, Pele, Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Edison, Hitler, Napoleon Bonaparte, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkurumah, Iddi Amin, Bill Gates, Aristotle, Karthryn Khulman, Myles Muroe, Ben Carson, Osama Bin Laden, etc. Forgive us if your role model wasn’t mentioned as the list is unending. Some made good impact, others bad and ugly. But the truth remains that like that Bible verse above clearly states, the world of today is in gross darkness. Our big question comes: Can we lighten up the world? Or is our part to live in its darkness as we have met it?
The singular truth remains that God created us to make positive impact, “to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion” (Genesis 1:28). That is God’s 5 point agenda for man and these agenda were for planet earth and not heaven! To enable us achieve these, He created us in His own image with His likeness (Spirit and personality). Today we share God’s big idea for the world. They are:
1.      To extend His kingdom on earth not to set up a religion. It was not God’s idea for us to gather in a hall and clap hands and do all those religious jamboree, no! His idea was and still remains that we receive His light (by being born again) and we go out there and shine. To shine, in this context, refers to reflecting His glory, personality and culture in our society whether as a sportsman, musician, doctor, engineer, force man, lawyer, teacher or even politician. In a nut shell, we have three levels of operation on earth: be born again, identify purpose and impact our world. So let’s find the level we are in and move up! Going to church is like going to the restaurant to eat, we don’t live to eat, we eat to live so lets stop playing religion because that is not our main task rather fellowship with one another is an energizing process.
2.      To colonise the earth with heaven and not to take us to heaven. If God’s sole reason of us getting born again is to take us to heaven, then there will be no to keep us here after we have been saved (born again). Good people, “For this is what the Lord says – He who created the heavens, He is God; He fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited” (Isaiah 45:18)! The earth is our place of primary assignment; no man gets rewarded for sitting mute and waiting for pay day. My dear Christian, stop standing and waiting for Christ to come and take you to heaven, go out and impact your world. “The heaven, even the heavens are the Lord’s: but the earth has He given to the children of men” (Psalms 115:16). The so called ‘sinners’ and ‘devil’s agents’ are not sitting and waiting for hell, they are about their fathers business, infesting the internets with pornography, the media with all sort of corrupt images and sound, the political systems with corruption, the educational system with all forms of social vices and we, the so called ‘elect’, are just sitting and singing, “This world is not my own, I am just a passer-by…”. That is an error! We are no passer-bys, we are fishers of men! The fisherman doesn’t just pass by the sea; he stays on it and makes some good catch. You can take a pause and ask yourself, “How much of heaven have I released on earth?”
3.      To fill the earth with the culture of heaven. A kingdom is not a place; it is a lifestyle, a culture. When the colonial masters came to Africa, they came with their kingdom, tagged it civilization and today, we live the western lifestyle. We even wear suit under the hot sun! All in the name of civilization. When a fellow Nigerian commits grammatical blunder in English, we see him as an illiterate because we now live with the western culture. The same way, just like the Western men infested us with their way of life so also God requires us to influence our world. Not by carrying guns and fighting some damned ‘holy war’. It is simple, just arise and shine! Live a life of purpose not of money. Add value to men’s lives and they will follow you.

With the dominance of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in global affairs, it will not be an overstatement to say that ICT compliance is a necessity for every individual who desires to be productive and relevant in our modern day society. The application of ICT currently cut across every sphere of human endeavour and Africa, particularly Nigeria, is not left out of the wave of digitalization. In 2014, Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), the organization in charge of conducting the mandatory entry examination into higher institutions in Nigeria, introduced a computer-based option of testing candidates intending to gain admission into higher institutions. By 2015, as at the time of preparing this proposal, this computer-based had been made compulsory, replacing the analog option that existed the previous year. The country’s electoral system has also introduced the electronic voting system. Corporate organizations are not left out of this computerization process thus making ICT compliance not just an added advantage, as it used to be, but a necessity for being employable in the country. Unfortunately, a field survey done in a selected higher institution in Enugu by our organization showed that a whopping 80% cannot effectively operate basic user friendly software like Microsoft Office (i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc). In the rural area, the case is even worst as the rural dwellers do not even have access to computers let alone knowing how to operate them. This project therefore intends to solve this challenge by providing youths with basic computer trainings free of charge while integrating fundamental positive value orientation in the training curriculum. This addition is aimed at imputing positive value system in participants with the view to reduce corruption and other social vices ravaging the society as well as raise young leaders that are physically, mentally and spiritually sound.
The target beneficiaries of this project are basically youths between the ages of 15-35 years. The main goal of this project is to raise youths with positive leadership values that are ICT literates. This is to be achieved by running a four (4) months free computer training in selected communities. The kick-off community is Akegbe-Ugwu community in Nkanu-West Local Government Area in Enugu State, Nigeria. It is expected that by the end of the first edition of this project, 200 youths from the five (5) villages the make up Akegbe-Ugwu will have been trained to become proficient in computer operation.
The future and hope of Africa and the world at large is in our hands. We will either make it or mar it. It is all the function of choice. Enough of the unnecessary blame game, it is time to step forward and take action. With enough passion and development, we are sure to turn our scars to stars, our shame to fame, and our obstacles to miracles. The change begins with us.
In life, there are various forms of investments we can plunge our time, efforts and resources into but the most profitable of them all is investment in human life. To transform a person’s life to the point that he becomes useful to himself, his family, society and creator is the key to joy unspeakable. True success is helping others succeed. As William Ward puts it, “There are three keys to more abundant living: caring for others, daring for others and sharing with others”. So, would you not rather be a part of this change vision?
